Decimal ↔ katha

1 decimal = 0.605 katha. Conversely, 1 katha = 1.6529 decimals. It comes from square feet — 1 decimal is 435.6 square feet and 1 katha is 720 square feet, so 435.6 ÷ 720 = 0.605.

10 decimals = 6.05 katha, or 4,356 square feet. A little more than one-third of a bigha.

Yes. Deeds and porchas write Decimal or Dec in English, while in Bengali it is called shotangsho (shotok) — both are the same unit: one-hundredth of an acre.

No. This calculator takes 1 katha = 720 square feet, as used in Dhaka and most of the country. Local custom may differ in some areas, so for deed work check with a local surveyor.

A faraid calculation gives each person's share as a fraction — e.g. 1/8 or 2/3. If the total land is known in katha, first convert it to decimals with this tool and then multiply by the share. To do it directly, use the Land Share Calculator.
