About us

Inheritance Calculator is a free Bengali website and Android app with one aim — to make the complicated calculation of Muslim inheritance law (faraid) easy for ordinary people.

A large part of family disputes over dividing property in Bangladesh happen because nobody knows exactly who gets how much. Working it out on paper leads to mistakes, and when rules like 'awl or radd come up, even experienced people get stuck. That is where this site helps.

What the calculation is based on

  • Hanafi fiqh — the Qur'anic fixed shares (ashab al-furud), residuaries ('asaba), hajb (exclusion), 'awl and radd.
  • Muslim Family Laws Ordinance 1961 — the provision in force in Bangladesh for orphaned grandchildren to inherit by representation (section 4).
  • The 31 rules and 23 worked cases Rules and FAQ are written out openly on their page — so anyone can check them.

What it offers

  • 28+ kinds of heir relationship
  • Distribution in the Shariah order after deducting debts, funeral costs and bequest
  • Step-by-step explanation — who received how much, and why
  • Printable report with names
  • works without the internet App
Important caution. This is a calculation aid — not a fatwa, legal opinion or court certificate. Every family's situation is different, and leaving out even one small detail can change the whole result. Before the final distribution, always consult a qualified scholar and an experienced lawyer.
This is not a government website. The Inheritance Calculator is a personal, private initiative. It has no connection with any ministry, department or official website of the Government of Bangladesh, and claims no government approval.
